Unlike flexible pads that can flex and create wavy finishes on flat surfaces, this rigid backer pad keeps the polishing abrasive perfectly flat against the stone. This results in a uniform polished surface and significantly reduces the risk of surface irregularities when working on edges, countertops, or large flat planes.
