How the Grit Range Works

Different grit sizes affect texture and finish quality. A typical workflow uses coarser grits to remove material and finer grits to soften and refine the texture:

36–60 grit (Diamond / Filiflex brushes)

• Aggressive material removal – cuts deeper into stone to create rough textures or initial antique/leathered effects.
• Best for starting the antiquing process on dense granite, quartz, marble, travertine, etc.

120 grit (Airflex brushes)

• Medium refinement – removes softer material and enhances natural color and surface characteristics.
• Helps blend and smooth the finish after the initial aggressive texturing.
